About Us

The Dementia Services Development Centre operates as a virtual network from Centres in Northern Ireland and the University of Stirling and works to spread research and good practice about home and hospital care for people with any type of dementia. This includes Alzheimer’s disease, multi-infarct dementia, Lewy body dementia, vascular dementia and alcohol-related dementia. We offer information about dementia from our library, and amongst our most frequent enquiry topics are design, activities, nutrition, day care, acute care, communication, behaviour that challenges, assistive technology and spiritual care. Our consultancy is tailored to your needs.

Our work brings us into contact with staff in health, social care, housing, voluntary, public and independent sectors.

Recently we have helped to design or remodel care homes, tackle problems highlighted by the Care Commission, or through complaints about services. Our specialised dementia training and education for staff is targeted at every level from those with no previous qualifications. We also have a wide range of publications for sale. For information about the DSDC-NI download our leaflet here.
